East Bridge House was once a famous public house and resting stop for travellers, on both horseback and via the river boat canal route, in and out of Colchester.

Alexony moved into the building in 1992 after it had been converted to offices, and in 2000 the company undertook a major refurbishment programme which saw the building gutted in its entirety. The building was then re-designed to offer modern, light and spacious office suites and the building was brought back to its former glory.

Featuring warehouse-style brick walls and industrial materials the company was keen to recycle as many of the old building materials as it could. The wooden flooring in the loft studio, for example, represents all the suitable timber available. In addition raw grade materials were used wherever possible to enhance the industrial workspace feel, other flooring includes scaffold boarding and standard concrete slabs polished for the ground floor.

The overall result is a wonderful environment that everyone enjoys coming to - why not stop in for a coffee?
